Lovely bit out skiing out of Alaska where Sage Cattabriga-Alosa was up in the 49th state to judge the Natural Selection Tour which brought together the world’s best skiers on the world’s best terrain for a day of unconventional backcountry competitive skiing that we won’t soon forget.
Prior to the event, NST athletes headed to Alyseska Ski Resort where they joined the local youth freeride team to rip around and explore what the ski area had offer. Excellent watch to see some seasoned pros keeping up groms who are eager to showoff their home him. The day was marked by creative terrain choices and camaraderie as the two generations of big mountain athletes joined forces to shred one of Alaska’s finest ski resorts.
While the majority of ski resorts in the lower 48 have already closed or are eking out shortened spring ski season, the folks up at Alyeska are sitting pretty with 105 inches base at the top and 58 inches throughout the middle of the mountain. The will be closing their season on the weekend of April 24-26 with their 49th annual Spring Carnival. If you have a chance, we highly recommend checking it out:
“Alyeska Resort Spring Carnival returns April 24–26, 2026, celebrating 49 years of this springtime tradition! For nearly five decades, we’ve welcomed spring the only way we know how—on the mountain, in costume, and with plenty of slush. This year, we’re honoring Alaska, the 49th state, with the theme “The Last Frontier.” Join us for three days of entertainment, skiing, and state pride, Alyeska-style.”
