When it comes to pristine powder runs some skiers like to take their time and savor every delicious turn and then there are those who love to keep their foot on the gas and let it rip until the lactic acid buildup forces you to quit.
Norwegian professional skier Nikolai Schirmer is firmly in the latter camp and started his 2026 with a 2000 foot powder run which he skied in 1 minute flat. When he finally met up with his riding buddy at the base he had only one thing to say…“Leg Burner”:
Although the Norwegian uses metric for most measurements, he preferred British Imperial system for this powder dash:
“2000 feet sounds like a whole lot more than 609 meters”
Kudos to Schirmer for waking up early on New Year’s Day and kicking off 2026 with an incredible run. Cheers!
