White Sulfur Springs, Montana โ€” New Year’s Eve is typically full of festivities at ski areas, which include torchlight parades and fireworks at some of them. The risk of both is that they could result in a fire.

Over at Showdown Montana, they had a festive final day of 2025, as the ski area hosted a New Year’s Eve Celebration. This included a torchlight parade and fireworks. Unfortunately, one of those two things accidentally caused a pine tree to catch fire.

Currently, Showdown has 39 trails and 3 of 4 lifts open. With 95″ inches of nautral snowfall so far, it’s been a memorable start to the 2025-26 season.
