Deer rescued from ice in New York.

On Wednesday, December 10th, firefighters with the Ithaca Fire Department in Ithaca, New York, assisted the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Park Police in rescuing a deer stuck on an ice-covered river.

The deer was rescued from the Cayuga inlet, with crews using ice rescue gear and an animal rescue device to get it off the ice.

Fortunately, despite being cold, the deer was uninjured and was able to carry on with its day after reaching the shore. The fire department uses this incident to remind the public to be safe around frozen waterways. Ice may not be as solid or as strong as you think.
