There are a lot of very steep ski runs throughout North America, including many that include mandatory airs. But when it comes to the steepest lift-accessed tree cut run, meaning the resort actually decided to cut down trees and make the area a trail rather than just opening up existing natural terrain, nothing can quite compare to Rambo at Crested Butte.
Rambo holds a near 50-degree pitch throughout its entire 900 feet, peppered with rocks, stumps, and bushes along the entire run. It’s considered an experts only trail and requires other expert only runs to access. If you’re feeling gutsy enough to give it a shot when it’s open, you’ll have to ride the North Face Lift and work your way down from there. Otherwise, you can stop and look up at the monstrous trail on the blue “Daisy” run from the top of the East River Express Lift.
