USA — Are you looking to watch something military-related on this Veteran’s Day? This History Channel documentary is well worth watching.
In this episode of Military Heroes by the History Channel, it delves into the history of the 10th Mountain Division and its impact on World War II. Although this documentary is a bit dated, it features insightful interviews with members of the 10th Mountain Division. I ended up watching the whole thing this morning, and I learned a lot.
The roughly ninety-minute documentary explores how Americans recognized the need to fight in alpine environments, the recruitment process of the National Ski Patrol for the war, the training regimen, their first deployment on the Alaskan island of Kiska, the limited use of skis in Europe, the battles fought on the continent, and the Division’s legacy.
After the war, some of them went on to grow the U.S. ski industry, while others led conservation efforts in the United States.
Happy Veteran’s Day, and thank you to all who served. Climb to Glory!
