It may seem a bit too early to be talking about skiing and snowboarding in the United States this weekend, but there are a few ski areas that are currently open in the country. All 3 are in Colorado and only have a handful of trails open, but skiing is very much still skiing. These are the 3 resorts:
1. Keystone Resort
Keystone Resort opened last weekend in a surprise, sneaky move against Arapahoe Basin to claim the title of first open resort in the United States for the 2025/2026 season. They started spinning lifts from 3-6pm on Saturday, October 25th, offering 2+ miles of terrain and a hike-to park. The resort’s open terrain currently includes Endeavor and Schoolmarm, both green runs. Lifts are spinning from 9am-4pm, 7 days a week.
2. Arapahoe Basin
While Arapahoe Basin was the first to announce their opening date, they were the second resort in the United States to open for the 2025/2026 ski season. Lifts started spinning for the first time just before 8:30am on Sunday, October 26th, with skiing and snowboarding on High Noon. It seems like High Noon will continue to be the only run open on the mountain heading into the weekend, served by the Black Mountain Express Lift. The lift is set to spin from 8:30am-4pm on weekends and select holidays, and 9am-4pm on weekdays.
3. Winter Park Resort
Winter Park Resort is set to celebrate their opening day today, October 31st, for some spooky Halloween turns between 1pm-4pm. Arrow, Gemini, and Endeavor lifts will be spinning for opening day, serving Parkway and Village Way Bypass. For those looking to hit some park runs, Porcupine Park will be open and lift served with 5 features. After today, Winter Park will be open from 8:30am-4pm on weekends and holidays and 9am and 4pm on weekdays. Get out there and have some fun this weekend!
