We are very close to the start of Red Bull Rampage, one of the year’s wildest events in mountain biking. The women’s competition was originally scheduled to start today, October 16th, but weather conditions forced organizers to push it back to Friday, October 17th. In the meantime, athletes are putting the finishing touches on their lines and testing out their routes.
For those who don’t know, Red Bull Rampage tasks riders with building their own route on the desert slopes of Virgin, Utah. Each athlete is allowed to work with two other people to build their track down the mountain. External materials and power tools are strictly prohibited, with sand bags sitting as the only exception. Teams generally spend three days digging and four days testing jumps and lines.
The women’s Red Bull Rampage is set to go down on Friday, October 17th, beginning at 12:30pm ET. The men’s competition has been pushed back to Sunday, October 19th, and will also begin at 12:30pm ET. Both the men’s and women’s competitions are free to watch either on Red Bull TV or on the Red Bull Bike YouTube channel.
