Professional skateboarder Sandro Dias has been preparing for weeks to attempt a world record: the highest skateboard drop in history. Working alongside Red Bull, they built the worldโs largest skate ramp on the side of the Centro Administrativo Fernando Ferrari in Brazil. The CAFF government building’s unique shape has been the subject of skateboard urban legends for decades, and now somebody has actually sent it.
Dias started the drop in at 55 meters, or around 180 feet. That’s already far bigger than most skateboard ramps in existence. Then he built his way up to 60 meters, then to 65 meters. 65 meters, or around 213 feet, already represented a world record, but that just wasn’t enough. From there, Dias went up to 70 meters, or just around 230 feet, to make a huge mark on skateboard history.
If you just want to see the incredible 70 meter (~230 feet) world record drop, start the video at 1:53:30. It’s both a terrifying and incredible thing to watch. Congrats on the record Sandro!
