In honor of International Dog Day the good folks at Palisades Tahoe want to introduce their newest employee Binny (short for Bintang, an Indonesian surf break) who is training to be an avalanche dog. Binny is just 9 week-old and about to emBARK on his two year training process with his handler Jonathan, after which the pair will become a mission-ready team. Check out Binny romping around Palisades and find out more about whats in store for him in coming years below:
Palisades Tahoe Welcomes Binny
Right now, Binny is working on socializing and getting used to things he’ll encounter on the job, like chairlifts and moving equipment. He will continue his training on the mountain this season and beyond, eventually learning to find human scent buried under snow in rescue scenarios.

It’s important to note that when he’s on the mountain, Binny will be training and can’t always be approached or interacted with. If you see Jonathan and Binny please give them plenty of space, especially around skis or snowboards, and always ask before approaching the dog. We greatly appreciate everyone’s support and understanding while Binny embarks on his training journey to become the next Palisades Avalanche Dog!
