East Madison, New Hampshire โ If you’ve ever wondered where the imagery of some of the most iconic album and magazine covers of all time comes from, there’s a chance to meet the source at a New Hampshire ski area next weekend.
On August 16th at 7 pm, King Pine Ski Area and Purity Spring Resort will be hosting an event that celebrates the life of Henry Diltz. The photographer’s work has been featured on over 250 album and magazine covers over the years, including for artists like Paul McCartney and Neil Young. His most recognizable album covers are from The Doors’ย Morrison Hotelย and James Taylor’sย Sweet Baby James.
Tickets for the event, which come with a dinner, gallery walk-through, and a meet-and-greet, cost $85. You can grab tickets for the event here.
Part of the Purity Spring Resort, the King Pine Ski Area features 17 trails, 6 lifts, and a vertical drop of 350 feet. It also features 20km of cross-country and snowshoeing trails, along with a snow tubing park. It’s become the host of the Wild Corn Backcountry Shindig, a popular event among the backcountry and uphill skiing community. Not to be confused with King Ridge, some of the lifts at King Pine come from the shuttered ski area. In the summer, the ski area is home to a disc golf course, while the whole resort features a wide range of activities.
