Photographer, filmmaker, climber, and skier Jimmy Chin received the very first Jackson Hole International Film Fest True Grit Award and his presenter was none other than Harrison Ford. The scene went down last Thursday at the 10th anniversary screening of Jimmy’s seminal film Meru at Walk Festival Hall. Ford took the podium and delivered an incredible speech honoring Jimmy’s incredible contributions to adventure filmmaking:
“He brings these stories back to us, these lived stories, with honesty, with beauty, with incredible honesty and power. But this dude climbs like a goat and shoots like Spielberg.” –Harrison Ford
Jimmy had this to say about Harrison delivering his award:
“Might be the highlight of my filmmaking career.”
Having Harrison Ford in the house at Jackson Hole was also quite special for Jimmy’s son James who “Got to meet Han Solo!”
The True Grit award honors filmmakers who exemplify courage, determination and excellence in storytelling. Jimmy was a shoe in and we absolutely love that he had a Hollywood A-lister on stage to recognize his talent.
