Iron River, Michigan — It may not be the most recognizable ski resort in the Midwest, but Ski Brule has grown a big audience for its long season and family-friendly atmosphere. To enhance the experience for future seasons, the team at Ski Brule is currently working on several major projects.
While their improvements aren’t the most transformative changes coming to North American ski resorts for the 2025-26 season, they’re still making drastic changes that will drastically improve the guest experience next winter.
The major project involves upgrading the ski resort’s underground power network. This will help them produce more snow and have accessible power in areas they haven’t had before. This means that the ski resort can have more snowguns operating, which in turn means a faster opening of terrain and lifts. Brule also detailed that it is refurbishing some of its snowguns.
In terms of lifts, the Big Bear chairlift is undergoing a motor system replacement. This will enable more reliable operation of that lift.

The main lodge is also undergoing a facelift. The siding on the building is being replaced, making it look like new again. In addition, the rental area is having its floors and walls upgraded.
Situated in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Ski Brule is regarded as one of the most family-friendly ski resorts in the region. The ski resort features 17 trails, 11 lifts, and a vertical drop of 500 feet. The ski resort is also renowned for its diverse range of activities. Cross-country skiers and fat-tire bikers have access to 33 km of trails. Snow tubers are also quite fond of Brule, with two separate tubing hills available. For those who want to turn their day trip into a vacation, overnight lodging is available.
