Back during the 2024 Tour de France, mountain biker Valentin Anouilh leapt over the road as the world’s greatest peloton passed underneath.
This was the second time Anouilh had jumped over the Tour de France. When he found out the tour would be passing near his hometown, he hunted down a nice cliff, built a nice wood platform jump, cleaned up the landing, and sent it right as a group of professional road cyclists were passing underneath.
You can tell the racers are pretty impressed by the jump, with most of them looking up in awe as they pass. This was not the first time someone has jumped over the peloton. Anouilh himself did it in 2019. Canadian Dave Watson was first to jump over the Tour de France, hitting it back in the early 2000s.
We haven’t seen any gaps yet in this year’s Tour de France, but we’re only a handful of days in and are still yet to see the mountains. There’s plenty of time for anything to happen.
