Boise County, Idaho — After some significant changes last winter, the closest ski resort to Boise is giving one of its base lodges a facelift.

This offseason, Bogus Basin is modernizing the exterior of the Pioneer Lodge. Opened back in 1973, this lodge is right next to the Morning Star Express and Bitteroot chairlifts. This exterior renovation will give the lodge a more modern look while keeping some of the retro vibes. In addition, the added windows give guests sitting inside more vantage points of the slopes. Other planned lodge projects include the redesign of the entry area and the installation of an elevator, providing easier access. These changes follow the 2023 remodeling of the women’s restroom and the 2019 interior redesign at the Pioneer Lodge.

Their latest construction update came this week. The siding has been removed, and framing has commenced. During this construction period, the Pioneer parking lot will be closed. The plan is to have the lodge ready for the 2025-26 season.

Last winter was a busy one for Bogus, which was marked by a series of major improvements. This included the replacement of two chairlifts, along with the construction of a few new trails. As Boise has grown into national prominence, so has Bogus Basin.
