Rockfall nearly strikes swimmers in Utah.

Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is home to a host of unbelievably stunning hikes and natural features, making up 1.9 million acres of diverse Utah landscapes. There’s an endless number of trails to explore, but the Utah Bureau of Land Management is warning visitors to stay cautious in one specific area.

The Lower Calf Creek Falls trail features a 6 mile round trip hike to the 126 foot lower falls, presenting visitors with an opportunity to take a dip in the fresh running waters. But if you decide to make the trip to beat the heat, beware of falling rocks. This group of swimmers was nearly struck by several without any sort of warning while trying to enjoy the cool waters.

We’re all looking for a place to beat the heat this weekend. If you decide to take the six-mile hike, enter the area at your own risk. Falling rocks can cause serious injury.
