Cheers to all the folks who came out to Mt. Hood Meadows on April 19th to celebrate the “The Last Blue-rah” retirement party for their beloved Blue Chair.
Originally known as Chair #1, Blue was constructed in 1967 and began service during their inaugural season in 1968. The fixed-grip, two-seater chairlift manufactured by Riblet was in service for 55 years before it was finally decommissioned at the end of the 2025 season. Blue’s chairs and haul rope will be removed this summer but the towers and terminals will remain in place for the time being.
“The celebrations are over, the chairs are down, and the last few Blue chairs are being spirited away to new homes as we speak. That concludes our decommissioning work for Blue for this summer. Thank you to everyone who was a part of it. Here’s one last look back at the past couple months as we bid a final goodbye to Blue.”
