After a remarkable past several days, Hotham Alpine Resort in Victoria, Australia, is prepping to open terrain off the Heavenly Vally Chairlift this Friday, June 13.

A season opening blizzard blasted ski resorts across Australia and 70cm of snow, or around 27 inches, fell at Hotham. Light flurries have been expected to continue through the week as well before the weather breaks this upcoming weekend.

Big D lift opened on Sunday, followed by Road Runner and Summit Quad on Tuesday after the wind and blizzard conditions eased. Beginning on Wednesday, June 11, Hotham opened up skiing on the Village chairlift.

Next to open will be the Heavenly Vally chairlift providing access to top notch terrain. Right now 15 of 105 trails are open with 5 of 14 chairlifts. Right now it’s mostly greens and blues open to skiers and snowboarders, though that very well could change in the coming days.
