Angel Fire, New Mexico — The next year and a half will be transformative for Angel Fire Resort.

Angel Fire Resort recently announced that they’re working on various major projects this offseason. In terms of skiing, two new lifts are coming during the next two winters. The first will be on the backside of Angel Fire. Called Rakes’ Rider, it will be a new fixed-grip quad chairlift. This will follow the old Lift 6 path, which was removed in 1998. It will start near the bottom of the Backside area, and then conclude at the top of the Nice Day and Hells Bells trails. Rakes’ Rider will provide quick access to The Steeps and the Liberation Park Lift.

In 2026-27, Angel Fire will add its third high-speed chairlift. The plan is to add a new detachable high-speed six-pack chairlift. It will start at the base area and conclude between the Bodacious and Gusto Grande trails. This chairlift will service beginner and intermediate terrain, and provide easier lapability for less experienced skiers and riders. The lift will ultimately serve as the next step up from Angel Fire’s beginner area. When it opens, it will likely be the only six-pack chairlift in New Mexico.

In terms of summertime, Angel Fire remains a busy place. The summer season is currently underway at Angel Fire, which includes sixty miles of mountain biking trails, an eighteen-hole golf course, a zipline adventure tour, and activities at the Monte Verde Lake.

Several new summer attractions are also currently being constructed. This includes eight new pickleball courts, a Tennis & Pickleball Pro Shop, a water splash pad, and a children’s disc golf course.

For guests who want to stay overnight, the New Mexico ski resort has various overnight lodging options, which include The Lodge, Angel Fire RV Resort, and Angel Fire Vacation Rental Properties. Those who stay two nights at The Lodge or Angel Fire Resort Vacation Rental Properties this summer save 25% off rooms, while guests who stay three or more nights save 35%. These guests also receive a 10% voucher at El Jefe and a complimentary Elevated Adventure Pass for each person who’s a part of your reservation.
