Pond skimming is a staple of spring skiing, with some sort of pond skim event taking place at a majority of ski areas around the country. But the natural backcountry pond skims are always the most impressive. Whether it’s a skim into a flip or a twist in the middle of the pond, creativity shines in these sorts of rides.
Professional Japanese snowboarder Ryo Aizawa got wildly creative with this pond skim, managing to skim the pond before turning back towards the snow and hitting the bank like a quarter pipe. Seriously impressive and creative stuff.
