Sutton, Quebec — One of the best ski resorts for glade skiing in the Northeast is going to be adding a new chairlift in 2026.

This week, Mont Sutton announced that it will be installing a new chairlift for the 2026-27 season. The new quad chairlift will be on the west side of the ski resort. It will have a carrying capacity of 2400 riders per hour and feature a loading conveyor. It will replace the three double chairlifts that currently exist in this terrain pod. The new chairlift will cater to families and beginner skiers/riders who want easy access to the family zone. It will be Skytrac’s first installation in Canada.

“This announcement is the result of extensive planning by all our teams over the past several years,” said Jean-Michel Ryan, the President and CEO of Mont Sutton. “The SkyTrac quad chairlift, thanks to the outstanding proposal by Poma Canada, meets every essential criterion we had for improving your experience and addressing your needs as expressed in recent years.”

The project will also bring improvements to Sutton’s beginner area. This includes adding a new magic carpet and moving the existing one. Snowmaking upgrades will also be made to the west side. Overall, the project will be an investment of $8 million CAD.

Located in the Eastern Townships, Mont Sutton features 230 skiable acres and a vertical drop of 1500 feet. It’s well regarded for its tree skiing, with 45% of its pistes being gladed terrain. During the offseason, Mont. Sutton has scenic chairlift rides, disc golf, mountain biking trails, hiking routes, ziplines, and camping sites. Thanks to a grant from the province of Quebec, they plan on further investments, including RFID gates for its lifts, glamping sites, and more additions to their open-air museum.
