Yosemite National Park is thanking EMTs, ParkMedics, paramedics, and other EMS professionals to celebrate National EMS Week 2025. The theme for the 2025 National EMS Week is “We Care. For Everyone.”
Yosemite EMS respond to over 800 calls for service every year, with 20% of these calls happening at night. With their 24/6 coverage, Yosemite EMS will provide emergency medical and trauma response to anywhere within the park at all hours of the day. This includes front country areas and the backcountry and Wilderness areas where responses must be done on foot, horseback, or by helicopter.
National EMS Week runs from May 18 through May 24. President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS professionals in 1974. The week is presented by the American College of Emergency Physicians in partnership with the National Associations of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Each day of EMS Week highlights a specific theme. Sunday was Health, Wellness, and Resilience Day, Monday is Education Day, Tuesday is EMS Safety Day, Wednesday is EMS is for Children Day, Thursday is Save-A-Life Day and STOP THE BLEED® Day, Friday is EMS Recognition Day, and Saturday is EMR Remembrance Day.
We’d like to extend our thanks and recognition to all EMS professionals around the country and around the world. Without them, the outdoor recreation we love would be significantly more dangerous and deadly.
