Colorado Parks and Wildlife has confirmed the death of a another gray wolf in the northwest region of the state.

A mortality alert for female gray wolf 2512-BC was received by the organization on May 15 and the agency confirmed the animals death. No cause of death or further information has been released at this time.

2512-BC was part of a group of wolves released into the state from British Columbia earlier this year. 15 gray wolves from British Columbia were released into the wild around January.

As gray wolves are a federally listed species under the Endangered Species Act, the death is being investigated by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. No final determination on the cause of death will be made until the investigation is complete and a necropsy is completed.
