Banff Sunshine Village has had a solid week for snowfall despite it being mid-May. Earlier this week Banff Sunshine saw just under half a foot of snowfall overnight and the mountain woke up to more snow yet again this morning.
Just about 3 inches (8cm) of new snowfall were recorded overnight on the upper portion of the mountain while just under 2 and a half inches (6cm) were recorded around the mid-mountain. With the new snowfall, the resort has seen about 9 inches (23 cm) in the past 7 days and 19 feet and 3 inches over the entire season. Their base depth currently sits around 5 feet and 5 inches.
Just three resorts are still open in Canada, Whistler Blackcomb, Sommet St. Sauveur, and Banff Sunshine Village. Banff Sunshine is set to shut down for the season following their annual Slush Cup set for Monday, May 19th.
