Norway — When one ski season ends in Norway, another one begins for a separate group of ski areas.
Norway is home to various glaciers, some of which are used for lift-serviced skiing in the summer. One example of this is Galdhøpiggen Summer Ski Center, which just started its season. This week, Galdhøpiggen opened for the season. The ski area shared a video from its opening this week, which shows various racers waiting at the lift maze.
Situated on Norway’s highest peak, the Galdhøpiggen Summer Ski Center (also known as Juvass) is serviced by a singular lift: a T-Bar. The T-Bar can carry 1200 guests per hour.

The ski area, which is divided into 25 pistes so that select areas can be rented out by clubs and teams, has a length of 1400 meters (4593 feet) and a vertical drop of 350 meters (1148 feet). Typically, skier’s right is open to the public. Juvass is a popular site for ski racers, including the Swiss ski team. It’s also home to a lodge with a cafeteria. The ski area typically has a season that lasts from May to November, as accessing it during the winter is too difficult.
