Vermont’s Jay Peak is set to shut down lift operations out of Tramside base after Sunday, April 27, but operations out of Stateside are set to continue into May after what’s been a truly remarkable season.
Jay Peak’s average snowfall sits at 347 inches per year. The mountain has seen well over 100 inches more than that throughout the 2024/25 season, with the total currently sitting at 470 inches, or around 39 feet.
The mountain’s base depth still sits between 24-60 inches. 7 of 9 chairlifts are still open with 27 of 81 trails open and 18 groomed runs. Spring conditions are present around the mountain with variable conditions in some spots.
Both Sugarbush and Killington also plan to stay open into May, with Sugarbush scheduled to close on May 4. In New Hampshire, Black Mountain intends to celebrate closing day on May 3. Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine has set a tentative closing date for April 27, though they plan to evaluate conditions next week for a potential May 3 bonus day.
