The state of Montana, despite seeing plenty of snow throughout the year, is down to just one open ski resort, Big Sky Resort, and it’s set to close after this weekend.

To celebrate closing weekend, Big Sky Resort is hosting both their famous pond skim and closing weekend parties. On Saturday, April 26, between 1:30pm and 3pm, Big Sky’s pond skim will see skiers and snowboarders attempting to hurl themselves across a pool of cold water, with wild outfits and crazy antics all through the event. Prizes will be given out based on the best outfits, the best tricks, and the biggest splashes.

Registration for the pond skim is already full, but guests are still welcome and encouraged to swing by and watch the event. Once it’s all over, the party will continue off mountain with après in Mountain Village Plaza between 3pm and 6pm.

Throughout the entire weekend there will be music, food, swag giveaways, good turns, and more. Venues for Big Sky’s Spring Series will be located in The Bowl, at Mountain Village Plaza, and at Montana Jack with a 21+ Après Kick-off Late Night Show on Saturday.

Big Sky currently has 81 of 320 trails open with 5 of 40 lifts spinning. Their base depth at Andesite is 41 inches.
