Colorado’s Wheat Ridge Police Department and the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office are seeking assistance from the public in identifying human remains found in late 2024.
On December 27, 2024, a man exploring a wooded area north of the Clear Creek in northwest Wheat Ridge stumbled upon an abandoned camp with human remains inside a tent. The deceased is estimated to be a man between 45 and 75 years old who likely passed away between 2021 and 2023.
The Wheat Ridge Police Department clarify that there is no threat to public safety and they do not believe the death is suspicious at this time. Working with a forensic sculptor, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office generated a facial reconstruction based on the remains.
“This is a person who may have had family or friends that deserve closure. The purpose of this release is to generate leads that may help identify this individual and bring closure to anyone who may have known him.” – Wheat Ridge Police Department
The police department provided an artist’s approximation of the individual’s facial appearance. Anyone who may have information that could lead to an identification is encouraged to send tips to Detective Reshew at dreshew@ci.wheatridge.co.us.
