Homewood, California — After taking a season off to get some things sorted out, a California ski resort will be operating again next winter.
Yesterday, Homewood Mountain Resort announced its intentions to reopen for the 2025-26 season. They’ve announced their season pass products for next season, although prices have yet to be revealed. This is notable because last year, Homewood never announced season passes for the 2024-25 season, which eventually led them to announce it wouldn’t operate.
Unfortunately, it sounds like next season will be without a project that’s been planned for several years now. The plan is for a new gondola to replace the Madden chair, but it’s been delayed again. Due to the current application going through the approval process, they won’t be able to get the gondola constructed this summer.
Homewood decided not to operate during the 2024-25 season after a financial supporter backed out. Before reopening, Homewood wanted approval of its revised master plan. Some locals were concerned with their plans because Homewood stated its intention in the past to become private. However, Homewood is now publically stating its intention to remain public and available to locals. After some back and forth with the community, the master plan was approved by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
Parts of the revised master plan include the replacement of the Ellis Chair, along with the building of a mid-mountain lodge, a new hotel, and real estate developments.
