Tuckerman Ravine tomahawk.
Tuckerman Ravine tomahawk.

Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington is about as legendary of a ski area as they come, being a bucket list item for many East Coast skiers and snowboarders. Its difficulty, usual less-than-ideal conditions, and more remote location mean that airs are fairly rare, but they do happen.

Vermont skier Andreya Zvonar attempted a pretty wild cliff jump on the iconic face. It would have been quite the highlight if he had landed it, but the ensuing crash is what catches our attention.

Fortunately, according to Spencer Kofoed who took the video, Zvonar came out of the crash just fine. I don’t know what’s more impressive, the fact that he sent it or the fact that he was near totally okay after that brutal of a wipeout.

As wild as this is, it’s important to note that people have died in Tuckerman Ravine. If you’re going to try to ski or snowboard the face, make sure you’re prepared for the difficulty and stick to areas that you feel plenty comfortable riding.
