Glad this skier who took a direct hit to the head was okay after getting clipped by an incoming snowboarder in the terrain park at southern California’s Snow Summit Ski Resort:
Couple of key takeaways to learn from this unfortunate incident:
–Don’t dawdle around in landing zones. You can say what you will about right aways but skiing defensively in terrain parks is just common sense.
–Do your best to make sure landing are clear before taking off jumps. It is a bit of a grey area when it comes to blind takeoffs but use your best judgement.
–Always always wear a helmet.
If the skier wasn’t wearing a helmet, this collision could very well have ended with a trip to the hospital or worse:
“After this incident happened I instantly unstrapped from my board and ran up to see if he was ok. Other than a mark on his helmet and being pretty shook, he was perfectly fine.”
Check out the damage to the skiers helmet. It is not hard to imagine this would have been far worse if not for head protection. Buy a helmet and wear it, enough said:
