This ski patroller definitely had a cold day after this incident. He probably should have checked just how frozen the lake was before deciding to ski across the whole thing.
It looks like this occurred at Piau-Engaly, a ski area located on the southern border of France. Unfortunately their trail map doesn’t have any visible ponds or lakes, but looking closely at Google Maps shows a few different bodies of water on the mountain.
If you’re going to attempt to ski across a frozen lake you’d better check how frozen it is beforehand, or at least be ready to go for a swim.
