Snowcats are dangerous. That’s why some resorts are so strict about skiing/snowboarding/sledding/general recreation after hours on the mountain. A collision with a groomer or other piece of snowmaking equipment can easily mean serious injury or death.
That’s also why groomers usually operate only at night or only on fully closed trails. It’s not exactly clear what happened here, whether the snowboarder ducked a rope to hit this jump or whether the groomer was operating where it really shouldn’t have been, but this snowboarder is incredibly lucky that he didn’t hit the snowcat blade.
