Before Mythbusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman headed to the mountains to see if the human voice could trigger an avalanche, they built a model slope at their shop and tried some scale experiments using flour as a stand in for snow.
Armed with their results, the pair headed to Telluride Ski Resort in Colorado and were joined by professional yodeler Liz Masterson to see if they could actually trigger a slide with the help of her powerful pipes.
As with all Mythbuster experiments, if the initial tests don’t provide spectacular results more direct measures are taken. Also covered in this episode is whether tongues get stuck to metal poles in sub-zero temperatures and whether car handle better driving backwards in snow.
