South Berwick, Maine — To call last season underwhelming for small ski hills in New England would be an understatement. Warm weather led some ski hills to operate sparingly, while others barely opened.
At Powderhouse Hill, the Maine ski hill operated only on April 4th, 2024, following a massive snowstorm. The following days brought the warm weather back, meaning its season was officially over.
While the 2024-25 season hasn’t been super snowy, it’s been enough to go skiing and riding in South Berwick, Maine. Opening day was January 22nd, and they’ve since been open on January 24th, January 25th, January 26th, and yesterday (January 29th). In addition, the ski hill was open for the Marshwood Ski Team for one day. This means that Powderhouse has been open six days so far this winter. While the natural snowpack is minimal, it’s been enough to have lift-serviced skiing and riding. According to Seacostonline.com, the ski hill saw around 200 paying guests for the first four days of operation (Wednesday-Sunday).
It operated again last night, and more snow this week could help them grow the snowpack.
Powderhouse Hill’s typical hours and Wednesday and Friday from 7-9 pm, and Saturday and Sundays from 12-4 pm. Lift tickets are among the best deals out there, with it only costing $5 to ride the rope tow..
