If you have ever wanted to ski with a real life celebrity you can fulfill your dreams tomorrow at Steamboat Ski Resort where Smokey Bear will make a guest appearance at Steamboat’s “Ski With A Naturalist” program.
The program is free but participants will have to buy a lift ticket to join Smokey and a Yampatika Naturalist to ski down the green run Why Not where, depending on the day, you could see old bear dens and porcupine hang-out spots. Along the way you will learn about local wildlife like elk, moose, and the colorful birds that call the Steamboat Ski Resort home.

Meet Smokey Bear for a special edition of Yampatika’s Ski with a Naturalist program! Smokey will share insights on wildfire prevention and how to protect our National Forests. Afterward, the group will ski down the scenic green run, “Why Not,” while learning about the fascinating wildlife that call Steamboat Resort home, including elk, moose, and vibrant local bird species.
Meet Smokey at the top of the Steamboat Gondola near the Why Not trailhead and the large trail map sign. This FREE program is open to all, but a lift ticket is required. No registration is necessary—just show up and enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience!
Location: Thunderhead Trail Map Sign
