Canada It’s been a dry winter so far for a good portion of Canada, so it may come as a surprise that parts of the Southeastern United States have seen more snow than many Canadian cities this month.

Over the past few days, a snowstorm has ripped through the Gulf Coast. While this has made some roads impassible for drivers, it has also allowed recreationists to ski and ice skate in interesting places. So how is this even possible?

The folks over at The Weather Network broke down the water pattern that has resulted in this peculiar situation. A powerful push of high pressure resulted in the arctic air and storm track going all the way into the South. This is expected to last through Thursday morning.
