The Périades Bivouac.
The Périades Bivouac.

High up in the Mont Blanc massif is the stunning mountain ridge known as Les Périades. Along the ridge is an incredible little bivouac hut originally built in 1925 and renovated in 1966. Sadly that original has since required a replacement, but the existing one is still quite remarkable.

Florian Funcken spent the night in this bivouac hut and captured his experience with the little building that stands today. The video is in French, but it’s still interesting nonetheless.

“The periades bivouac. We spend a night in the star cabin, in the center of the Mont-Blanc massif. A childhood dream come true, in the most authentic refuge in the massif.”

Sadly the original hut found itself a victim of global warming back in 2019, but a new bivouac has since replaced it. While the original could fit three people, the new one can only accomodate two.
