Huntsville, Utah — An adorable little fella has joined Snowbasin’s ski patrol.

On Wednesday, Snowbasin Resort announced that a new pup has joined its avalanche patrol team. Emmett is a border collie who is only six months old. He will become the sixth dog on Snowbasin’s ski patrol. Snowbasin has an extensive dog crew on its ski patrol because of their smell and senses, which can help detect humans who become captured by avalanches.

In case you were wondering what happened to the Corgi that Snowbasin discovered at its ski resort last summer, the doggo found a new home with a Snowbasin employee. Its former owner decided to abandon him near the ski resort and eventually got in contract with the ski resort to confirm that it was his. Snowbasin used this situation to remind people not to abandon dogs, as there are resources to go to if you can’t make it work.

As of Friday, January 17th, Snowbasin has 113 of 115 trails open, and all its lifts are operating.
