Unnerving footage from the slopes of Chamonix, France where a pair of skiers triggered a sizable avalanche. They managed to stay on top of the sliding debris and make it to a safe zone but this was an extremely close call. Given the size of the slide, it could have easily ended up an burial for both skiers.
There are variety of methods to increase your probability of surviving an avalanche once it has been triggered but your first and most important line of defense is a proper education to recognize avalanche conditions and avoid them entirely.
