A pair of 68-year-old women from the Bay Area were arrested on December 2nd on Highway 89 outside of Tahoe City after a Placer County Sheriff’s Office deputy recognized their Lexus SUV from surveillance footage of suspected shoplifters leaving Olympic Valley back in June.
The thefts were from Parallel Mountain Sports at the base of Palisades Tahoe. They occurred on July 22nd, August 19th, and November 25th. Each time women were caught on camera stealing merchandise valued over $1,500.
Clara Michelson and Tatyana Zhukovsky were booked into the Auburn Jail and charged with grand theft and conspiracy to commit a crime on December 2nd. Both have since been released. They court dates have not been announced. We will be sure to update this story as more information becomes available.

On Monday December 2nd, 2024 deputies arrested 68-year-old Clara Michelson of Hillsborough and 68-year-old Tatyana Zhukovsky of San Francisco in connection to a number of thefts from Parallel Mountain Sports in Olympic Valley. The thefts occurred on July 22nd, August 19th, and November 25th of this year. The two women were captured on surveillance cameras concealing items each time with a total value of just over $1,500.
The two women were found when Deputy Jabri recognized their vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 89. He conducted a traffic stop and immediately recognized the women from surveillance footage. Michelson and Zhukovsky were arrested and booked into the Auburn Jail for grand theft and conspiracy to commit a crime.
