Montana Snowbowl has provided an update regarding the LaValle chairlift chair that fell off the haul rope on Monday stating that it hit an lift operator before crashing to the ground:
“An empty chair collided with a lift operator, causing it to swing abnormally and subsequently become dislodged. This was a highly unusual and isolated incident. No one was injured, and the lift was thoroughly inspected and confirmed safe before resuming operations later that day.”
This is not the first time a chair has fallen from LaValle. Back in January 2020 two skiers reportedly got off the lift incorrectly causing it swing and break off the haul rope.
Snowbowl will open up Friday, December 20th for daily operations with with top-to-bottom skiing.
