The Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa is pretty notoriously haunted, with guests reporting ghost sightings, mysteriously disappearing objects, and bizarre visions throughout. But another one of Mount Washington’s famous buildings has also had some claims of hauntings, and it’s set right at the summit.
The Mount Washington Observatory is a weather observatory set among the other buildings at the very top of the New Hampshire mountain. It was founded in 1932, with staff staying in the building since to take note of the severe weather at the top of the mountain.
Back around 2006, the Weather Channel featured the staff in their “Jobs Worth Weathering” segment. During the interview, a staff member discussed the rumored hauntings that go on in the building, relating them to the many mountaineers who’ve lost their lives on the mountain.
“The weather channel visited the Mount Washington Observatory, “Home of the World’s Worst Weather,” to talk to the staff on the mountain.”
