We have participated in many a ski resort rope drop but its usually a mad dash downhill when ski patrol gives the all clear. The opposite was true this week at Whistler where skiers and splitboarders piled up at the bottom of mountain and anxiously waited for avalanche mitigation to wrap up on West Ridge before the rope dropped and they began their mass start uphill. Really cool to see such a thriving uphill community at one of Canada’s premier ski resorts.
Remember folks, uphill travel within the Whistler Blackcomb ski area boundary is only permitted on designated routes marked with signage. Please respect all on-mountain signage. MORE INFO HERE.
