Snowboarding in Japan.
Snowboarding in Japan.

Photographer and filmmaker Matt Foley spent a roadtrip through Japan behind the camera, capturing some sweet snowboard shots for the short film “Mochi Yuki“. With help from Korua Shapes, Foley documented the beauty and joy found in the unbelievable deep powder that Japan is known for.

The short film features Nicholas Wolken, Rúnar Hjörleifsson, Atsufumi Mizuno, Takahiro Amano, Shohei Funaki, Anni Laura Maria, Masaki Miyazaki, Akiel Irikawa, and Daisuke Nakagawa. If this doesn’t get you excited for unbelievably deep powder days this winter, it’s likely that nothing will.

Mochi Yuki captures the essence of a different kind of Japan trip – one where we spent more time with locals at events and took the opportunity to connect in a more meaningful way. From riding with friends around Yotei, to moments of beauty and laughter captured by photographer/filmmaker, Matt Foley, this trip felt like one of those rare experiences you truly get to savour. Mochi Yuki is all about adventure, friendship, and embracing the simple joy of snowboarding in its purest form.
