Sunday River has officially opened for its first day of the 2024/25 ski season… sort of. The mountain is open just for Halloween from 10am-2pm, with expert only and ungroomed skiing taking place on T2. The day is open just for those with New England Passes, Ikon and Mountain Collective Passes, and Ticket Packs, but anyone hoping to ride was required to wear a Halloween costume.
Sundaze In The Park caught the first chair of the day, grabbing several laps on the snow and providing a good look at the conditions. This after he flew home from Amsterdam and then drove from New York City to Maine in a total span of around 24 hours just to get on snow.
Surprise surprise, it’s very much low tide at Sunday River, but it’s awesome that they managed to get a lift spinning and people on snow for Halloween, especially given that it’s around 70°F on the mountain.
