Las Vegas’s Lee Canyon Ski Area will make a historic early opening this Saturday, November 2, likely becoming the first Nevada ski resort to open for the 2024/25 winter season in addition to being among the first around the entire country. This weekend’s opening will also mark the first ever overlap of the ski/snowboard and the mountain bike seasons for any Nevada resort.

Starting on Saturday, the Rabbit Peak chairlift that serves beginner terrain on the resort will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The lift will then operate Friday-Sunday as weather helps more terrain open around the mountain. The downhill mountain bike season is set to end on Sunday, November 3. Combined access passes are avialable starting at $39 with a $10 resort credit.

“Lee Canyon’s investment in snowmaking capabilities lets us deliver this stellar combination of adventures to our guests. We’re also a team of passionate skiers and snowboarders, so an opening is a huge win for everyone. Lee Canyon is totally committed to elevating our guest experience.” – Josh Bean, Lee Canyon’s director of mountain operations.

It’s not unheard of for Lee Canyon to be among the first mountains spinning lifts. In 2011, the resort opened the Rabbit Peak chair on October 8, becoming the earliest resort to open that season. The past five years have brought $17 million in upgrades to the mountain, including two new chairlifts, a downhill mountain bike park, Hillside Lodge, and snowmaking and parking expansions.

Saturday is also Lee Canyon’s annual Pray for Snow Party from 1 to 4 p.m. inside Hillside Lodge’s Bristlecone Bar. Guests can pick up or purchase a 2024/25 winter season pass and enjoy a food buffet, drink specials, giveaways and a winter gear sale at Lee Canyon Sports. The event is free and family friendly.

Once the season gets going, Lee Canyon’s daily operating hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Winter season passes and daily tickets are currently on sale for the resort. Some season passes cost as low as $199 until their current sale ends tomorrow, November 1. You can look into purchasing those today at www.leecanyonlv.com
