The Nevele Resort in New York’s Catskills Mountains was built in 1901, drawing thousands of visitors decade after decade. But in 2009, the hotel and former ski resort was shut down. Around a decade ago, the site was considered for a casino, with potential to provide an ice arena, skiing, horseback riding, zip lines, golf, and so much more to go alongside the games. But a different resort was chosen, and Nevele has since sat abandoned, serving as a desolate reminder of the past and what could have been.
In March of this past year, the “Winter Building” at Nevele Grand Hotel caught fire and burnt to the ground. The cause of the flame was under investigation following the burn, though no further information seems to have been released.
