Perisher Valley, New South Wales – Australia’s warm winter is coming to a predictable conclusion.

Earlier this week, Andy King, the director of Resort Services at Perisher, detailed how the snowpack was holding up. Due to warm weather throughout the week, they planned on compressing operations. Perisher was hoping to make it to September 29th, weather permitting.

However, this optimistic operating schedule wasn’t meant to be. On September 25th, Perisher announced that Wednesday would be their final day of the 2024 season. This was due to another batch of warm and wet weather on the 25th. Despite the many hurdles

With the offseason officially underway, Perisher will now be focusing on the new Mt. P 6 Seater chairlift. This new high-speed six-pack will become the main workhorse for Mt. Perisher, which features mostly intermediate terrain.

While Australia’s ski season on the main island has officially concluded, it could continue in Tasmania this weekend.
