Highmount, New York – After years of significant changes, more improvements are coming to Belleayre Mountain.

This week, Belleayre Mountain detailed what’s coming for the 2024-25 season. So, if you would like to take a couple of minutes, just sit right there and let the energetic Steve Maggio tell you what’s new at Belleayre.

The first major addition is the expansion of the Discovery Lodge. The 28,600-square-foot expansion will include more seating, a redesigned cafeteria area, more bathrooms, and a new area for their rental shop. However, they aren’t sure yet when this lodge expansion will open.

Their multi-year effort to improve their snowmaking infrastructure is continuing this offseason. 30,000 square feet of snowmaking pipe is being added to the mountain, increasing reliability and productivity. Twenty new SMI Super Polecat automatic fan guns are going onto Dot Nebel, one of the most popular trails at Belleayre.

Over at the Overlook Quad, which opened last winter, some were puzzled by the lack of a mid-station, like there was for its predecessor. They will be adding a mid-station to the lift, which will allow people to unload.

A new learning area will debut at the summit of Belleayre. The move is intended to create a longer season for beginners, as they can make snow earlier at the top than at their base area. The move to the top will create a better customer experience, with first-timers riding the enclosed gondola and taking in the views from the summit. This area will be serviced by a new magic carpet lift.

The last major addition is the gondola cabin storage building for the Catskill Mountain Gondola. This will allow them to open the lift quicker in case of gnarly weather conditions.

Ultimately, it sounds like it was a quiet offseason at Belleayre.
